Yu-Gi-Oh! is a Japanese manga series about gaming written and illustrated by Kazuki Takahashi. It was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine between September 1996 and March 2004. The plot follows the story of a boy named Yugi Mutou, who solves the ancient Millennium Puzzle. Yugi awakens a gambling alter-ego within his body that solves his conflicts using various games. Two anime adaptations were produced; one by Toei Animation, which aired from April 1998 to October 1998; and another produced by NAS and TV Tokyo, titled Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, which aired between April 2000 and September 2004. The manga series has spawned a franchise that includes multiple spin-off manga and anime series, a trading card game, and numerous video games. Most of the incarnations of the franchise involve the fictional trading card game known as Duel Monsters, where each player uses cards to "duel" each other in a mock battle of fantasy "monsters". This forms the basis for the real world Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game.

Yugi Muto (武藤遊戯, Mutō Yūgi), also romanized as Yugi Mutou is the main protagonist of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series, along with the spirit of Yami Yugi. He is based on the character of the same name from the original manga, but many aspects of his character are altered throughout the different versions.

This review is for the entire manga series of Yu-Gi-Oh! I didn't want to give a review on the anime based off of this manga, because there are many discrepancies, and I want to focus purely on the source material.

this manga is about a boy who plays games

Yu-Gi-Oh! was created from 1999 to 2004 as a weekly manga. The chapters were then compiled into volumes for English release by Shonen Jump, who also publishes a digitized version of the magazine weekly on their official website. A few changes were made to the series before it was released in English, although not nearly as much as the series' anime adaptations.

Seto Kaiba wasn't much of a student, but he was a master at Duel Monsters. He beat Yugi several times, including at the final Duelist Kingdom match. Kaiba is arrogant and has a temper that only Mokuba seems able to quell. He also has a strong sense of competition and hates to lose, although he isn't above cheating. His on-screen personality earned him the nickname "The Man With The Evil Eye" (Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie)
